The Women's Association

The Women's Association of the Presbyterian Church of Mount Kisco has long been a vital part of the life and ministry of this church. While all of the women of the church are inherently a part of the Association, and are encouraged to participate in its programs and good works, there is a 15 member planning board that meets regularly to determine the programs for the year and to recruit leaders who will organize and run specific events and programs.

The Women's Association is divided into three areas of endeavor:

Spiritual Development and Fellowship

The Women's Retreat in September is a weekend of spiritual renewal, fellowship and fun under the guidance of a Retreat leader. The Spring Tea in May promotes fellowship among the women of the church (including the women of the Islamic School and Iglesia Apostolica Monte de Sion) and includes their mothers, sisters, and daughters as well as close female friends. We gather for an afternoon of fun, food, music and conversation linked to a theme chosen by the Association planning board.

Fundraising and Benevolence

Each year there are two fundraisers. The Rummage Sale in June serves the church and the greater community by the sale of our gently used treasures, and the funds raised are donated to women's and children's charities. The Christmas Fair in December provides a festive start to the Christmas season and the funds raised are used for the benefit of the church and the wider community including women's and children's charities.

Community Outreach

Throughout the year there may be several opportunities for the Women's Association to reach out to organizations in need, including the Generations Clinics of the Lexington Center for Recovery. At Christmas time, the "Giving Tree" appears and the children of mothers in recovery make ornaments containing their Christmas gift wishes, which are hung on the tree. Church members chose ornaments and purchase gifts for the children. The children and women are also treated to a festive holiday party including a luncheon and gifts for all.
